Driving telecom connectivity
Created in 2018, OMTEL was the first independent Tower Company in Portugal currently owning of more than 3,000 telecommunications sites located in urban, suburban and rural areas spread across the country. By promoting a neutral hosting policy, the company provides shared telecommunications networks and infrastructure for telecom operators through a highly efficient infrastructure deployment and management model.
In January 2020, Cellnex - the main infrastructure operator for wireless telecommunication in Europe - acquired the full share capital of OMTEL for €800M, taking a decisive step in consolidating its international portfolio and in expanding the offer of services to customers in Portugal, as stated by Nuno Carvalhosa, Managing Director of Cellnex Portugal: “We will continue our efforts targeted at developing the telecommunications sector in Portugal at this particularly important time as we move towards launching 5G and having it available throughout the country.”
Deeply committed with connecting people from the more urban and densely populated areas to the most remote and rural areas of the country, Cellnex Portugal will proceed with the deployment of new sites to further increase coverage and capacity of mobile networks, while also making available to its clients other telecom infrastructure service from the international portfolio of Cellnex, such as Indoor coverage solutions, Small cells, Broadcasting Networks, IoT, Smart Cities, Emergency Services and Edge Computing.
Before this strategic move, the company challenged pur’ple to assume the role of interim HR Manager throughout the startup phase of the company, to help develop the organization's HR processes and policies and to support its implementation.

Co-design a culture of purpose
Acting as a close advisor, pur’ple helped OMTEL to design and set the HR processes, from onboarding to the strategic definition of objectives, stepping together the following journey:
In co-creation with the team, the organization's Culture and Values were shaped to fit the purpose of the company.
Behavioral and technical skills were also identified, bringing to life the Behavioral and Skills Model and the Organizational Manual.
This integrated people management model was based on a culture of purpose, assessment and recognition of individual performance, pinpointing the learning & development needs that would enhance individual and collective growth.
